THE VISION OF KAC (expanded)
|
We envision a church where unbelievers and the unchurched come to know Christ, as their Lord and Savior. We want them to experience the joy of having an intimate and dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ. We want to see them mature in Him. We want to guide and equip them to become devoted followers of Christ, growing in their faith and in their love for God and for others. We believe that a mature believer is one who is growing in living out the purposes of Worship, Discipleship, Fellowship, Evangelism and Outreach. We want to see both new believers, as well as established believers, Exalt Christ in all things (Worship), be Equipped with the Word (Discipleship), be Encouraged through godly relationships (Fellowship), Evangelize the unreached (Evangelism) and Extend Christ’s love to all (Outreach). We envision a church that reaches our ethnic community. We desire to reach all whom God wants us to, and we recognize that currently our greatest strength is in reaching the 2nd generation Korean-American community and their friends. As a congregation made up of mostly Korean-Americans we have the spiritual conviction to reach out to those in this community. In the Puget Sound we see a need for more ministries that effectively reach out to the 2nd generation Korean- Americans. We hope to meet that need and serve as a model for other ministries seeking to reach the 2nd generation Korean- Americans, and their friends. We envision a church that serves our local community. Though the target community for our evangelistic efforts is the 2nd generation Korean-Americans and their friends, we believe that we are called to love our immediate neighbors and to shine the light of Christ into our local community of Federal Way, Washington. We do this by understanding the various needs of our community and meeting those needs as best as we can. In doing so, we hope to share the gospel with them as well. We will partner with other churches in our community and our denomination, through the Puget Sound Baptist Association (PSBA), to guide them into ministries that will help them in their maturation of faith. We envision a church that goes to our global community. We want to be a sending and missional church. We take the Acts 1:8 challenge issued by Christ and by our denomination (SBC). We first go into our Jerusalem (our ethnic and local community), but continue on to “Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth.” We envision having a partner ministry with whom we can build a long term relationship, in a designated community in Washington state, North America, and internationally. We will partner with the Northwest Baptist Convention (NWBC), North American Mission Board (NAMB) and the International Mission Board (IMB) in these efforts. We envision a church that is healthy and passionate for Christ and for people. We envision a church whose members genuinely love one another, and are together committed to the mission of making disciples for Christ. Ultimately we envision a church that is glorifying to God and is faithful to His calling for us.
